Trick or Time
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
It's 11:47 on Halloween. It has been 11:47 for a very long time.
You're a kid out trick-or-treating on a quiet street, and the night is stuck. The only way to keep going is candy — every piece you eat buys you a little more time. At midnight, you become a mask on somebody's fence.
Shout "TRICK OR TREAT!" into your real microphone to get the doors to open. Be loud. But not too loud... something tall with a pumpkin for a head is collecting time too, and it can hear you.
Features
- 🎤 Your voice is the controller. Shout at doors. Answer a phone that's ringing for you. Hear your own voice come back at you from the dark — from a house nobody lives in.
- 🍬 Candy = time. Eat it, give it away, or lose it to the things that steal it.
- 🎃 The Collector. Hide in hedges, hold your breath, keep your flashlight on him.
- 🔁 A loop that remembers. Every night is the same night. Nobody remembers but Tommy, the kid under the streetlamp. He knows how your last night ended.
- 🍭 Worlds that go wrong. Knock on every lit door and visit St. Agnes, and the street melts into candy... and then it gets stranger. Get lost in Mr. Tock's world — a maze of playing cards, a tea party with no room, a house hanging upside down in the sky. Don't open his box.
- 😂 And a lot of things that should not be happening. A dog on a bicycle. Spiders raining from the sky. Sheep dancing in a circle. A duck in a horror mask who follows you and slaps you. Harold.
- 🎭 Seven lost masks. Every Halloween since 1952, one kid didn't make it home. Their masks are hidden across all four worlds — find them all and the endings remember it.
- 🎠 Places you shouldn't go after dark. A playground that closed in 1952. A back alley where something bangs on the garage doors. St. Agnes, where the bells ring before twelve.
- ⏰ The last minute. When time runs low, every lamp on the street turns red. Find something sweet. Fast.
- 🌅 Four endings. One of them finally lets the sun come up.
Controls
WASD move · Shift run (the clock runs faster!) · Space jump · E use/hide · C eat candy · F flashlight · Shout into your mic at doors (or hold V) · 1–4 answer
Notes
- Best with headphones and a microphone. No mic? Hold V to shout.
- A night takes about 10–15 minutes. Around 45–60 minutes (two or three nights) to reach the true ending — longer if you hunt for all seven masks. What you find stays found from night to night.
- Story mode (on the title screen): a slower clock, smaller losses, more time to answer. For anyone who'd rather see the story than race the clock.
- Nightmare mode (unlocks once you make it through a night): a faster clock, a hungrier Collector, three ducks with knives, sheep that charge, masks on every fence, five extra nightmare masks, and dream worlds that won't hold still. "Impossible." Beat it and you get a star.
- Five languages: English, Español, Русский, Deutsch, Français.
- The title screen keeps track of the endings you've found and the lost masks.
- A TONIGHT list in the corner tells you what the night wants from you next. Too dark or too bright? There's a brightness slider in Settings.
- Contains jump scares, mild crude humour and flashing lights.
